Corvettes shine at the Le Mans Classic, 8 – 10 Jul 10, 2016

The Le Mans Classic started in 2002, is staged in even-numbered years by the Automobile Club de ’lOuest and Peter Auto.  This 8th edition drew 550 cars (by invitation) and 125,000 fans.

Corvettes appeared in 3 separate groups racing in one hour stints x 3 over 24 hours.  Grid counts are 65 to 75 cars.

 # 75 driven in group 5 (1966-71) ex Greenwood BFG by John Goodman (USA) has been a regular for years.

# 5 driven in group 3 (1957-1961) by Alain Reude (Swiss) built this beautiful replica patterned after the Corvettes fielded in 1960 by Briggs Cunningham.

# 73 group 5 Eric Helary (FR) built this replica of a Corvette raced by Greder & Rouget.

# 47 driven in group 4 (1962-1966) by the Cleggs (FR) is inspired by the 1962 Corvette of Tony Settember.  It raced just once at Le Mans, now in a collection.

# 72 group 5 R. Herbert Guiterrez (FR) built this Team Filipinetti replica and has been a regular.

# 74 group 4 entered by Andy Dee-Crowne (UK) gets a prize for heroic effort first time out and for posting the Le Mans Classic experience on our Facebook Group page.

Thanks to the collaboration of AMP Online Magazine Patrick Durand, photographers Luc Joly, Serge & Maxime Cailler and Sports Car Digest Jamie Doyle, photographer, Julien Mahiels that make this Corvette retrospective possible.
