Amy Ruman takes 4th and 3rd in Trans Am double-header at VIR
# 23 Corvette Amy Ruman was back on her game scoring 4th and 3rd respectively in a make-shift double-header agenda at VIR on Saturday and Sunday Sept 26/27.
Amy is a Corvette fan’s “great white hope” (figuratively speaking) with the speed, stamina and backing from family-owned McNichols Company to run with the top 5 over an entire season.
While phenom Ernie Francis Jr is headed for another championship, Amy is in the hunt with rivals Tommy Drissi, Chris Dyson and Simon Gregg (ditched his Derhaag Corvette for a Camaro).
Richard Grant finished 9th & 16th respectively.
Stalwart Lou Gigliotti finished 7th & 5th in class taking the SGT Masters Award.
The duo of Aaron Pierce & Larry Bailey sponsored by Sam Pierce Chevrolet trailed 9th & 8th and 7th and 8th in class.
Matthew Butson visiting from the Pacific NW finished 20th & 36th in Tony Ave’s rent-a-ride Corvette. Tony has been known to jump into that thing and still beat a lot of folks.
Ryan McManus made his first Trans Am appearance finishing 7th on Saturday, DNS Sunday.
Cancelled races have twisted the Trans Am schedule in knots starting with the ordeal at VIR, then a long break until CoTA in TX, followed by another double header at Road Atlanta and a cross country trek to close out the season in early December at Laguna Seca after most of us have stuffed ourselves at Thanksgiving.
2020 will forever go down as NOT NORMAL. When the ball drops in Times Square in NYC on New Years’ Eve, no crowds, only the cops will be there live.
