# 3 Magnussen grabs 3rd place as Corvette Racing team returns to Mid-Ohio for the Acura Sports Car Challenge
“Playing” in traffic with 40 minutes to go (in 160 min race) Jan Magnussen got a jump on Joey Hand in the # 66 Ford GT entering the first turn.
That put the # 3 C7.R Corvette on the GTLM podium behind the winner Laurens Venthoor # 912 Porsche 911 RSR and the pursuing Connor DePhillippi # 25 BMW M8 GTE.
A scramble in the early laps gave an alert Antonio Garcia a spot as a spinning prototype car shoved GTLM pole sitter John Edwards # 24 BMW off course through a series of turns called “Madness”.
Time away from Mid-Ohio meant trouble to dial in the cars. The # 4 team was gridded 8th in the ultra-competitive GTLM class. They lost a pit stop gamble, hoping for a yellow with 70 min to go. Full course green forced Oliver Gavin to stop for a splash relinquishing 7th place at the time.
