Another driver shuffle and more adjustments at Shanghai heading into the final race at Bahrain
Frenchman Romain Brandela joined for a one-race gig at the Six Hours of Shanghai as Larbre Competition brought in its third different Bronze-rated driver in the last three races.
The 42-year-old veteran of GT3 racing joined full-season driver Pierre Ragues and Ricky Taylor, who will complete the remainder of the championship in the team’s Corvette C7R. Brandela replaced Yutaka Yamagishi, who was supplanted by Lars Viljoen at the Circuit of The Americas but took part in his home race at Fuji Speedway earlier in Sept.
The ongoing driver shuffle was one factor contributing to a 5th place finish in the GTE Am class.
Another factor was managing tyres under changing track temperatures during the 6 hour race.
Team Larbre, founded and managed by Jack Leconte has done a commendable job with the Corvette C7.R winning new fans for the iconic US marque across the globe.
Big news stemming from the scandal surrounding Volkswagen, Audi announced it will drop out of the WEC top level Hybrid P1 class while-sister owned Porsche clinched the title with one race to go.
