# 3 C8.R wins GT race at VIR
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
The fastest car doesn’t always win. The day was a scorcher and the track was tricky. Starting from third position, Antonio Garcia stayed with the GTD Pro class leaders until the first of 2 planned pit stops about an hour in to the 240-minute race.
Jordan Taylor was ordered to take advantage of mistakes which is exactly what he did, taking 2nd when Jules Guenon in the # 79 AMG clashed with the # 9 Porsche of Klaus Bachler.
Later in the race, Ben Barnicoat in the leading # 14 Lexus stalled on his last pit stop, handing Taylor the lead.
The Corvette team was mistake-free all day, closing the margin both on the track and via quicker pit stops, the latter for a short fill to gain track position.
Relegated to fuel-saving mode, Taylor managed to win by 2 seconds.
With such evenly-matched cars, nobody is irreplaceable; yet Corvette fans are bound to miss the antics of Jordan Taylor next year.

With a better shot for the championship, the Corvette Racing team heads next to the INDY road course on Sept 15-17
