Callaway Corvette built in Germany fulfills a promise
The SRO GT America Series features two 40-minute races held on Saturday and Sunday among a package of races held at premiere tracks across the USA.
Mirco Schultis ran all 16 races at eight tracks, finishing 2nd and 3rd in his # 70 C7 GT3-R at the Indy finale.
Racing since February without much fanfare, Mirco has improved a lot on the way.
He chased the SRO series winner George Kurtz, billionaire founder of Crowdstrike, a fast-growing cybersecurity company whose signs and banners are prominently displayed at widely televised Formula 1 races.
Looking back, Mirco Schultis accomplished in his own humble way what Reeves Callaway and his team set out to do with the C7 GT3-R in 2018, only to be stymied despite the best of intentions.
2nd & 3rd place finishes at the Indy finale have encouraged Mirco to sign up for next year.
He swapped positions with Andy Pilgrim (Corvette HOF) a couple of times over the last 5 minutes and was very happy to beat him.
Mirco has now joined the ranks of Indy disciples.
Word has it that Indy owner Roger Penske and Stephane Ratel, owner of the SRO series (formerly Pirelli World Challenge) are collaborating to expand this event.
