# 23 Amy Ruman outscored a host of contenders over the season to finish 3rd in the 2019 Trans Am championship ending at Daytona.
The 2-time champ posted consistent top finishes supported by a solid family team led over the years by Bob Ruman.
Doing a limited schedule, # 17 Adam Andretti in a C6-bodied Corvette was one of the biggest surprises of the year with another top 3 finish at Daytona.
Qualifying strong but starting at the back, Andretti caught up with Tomy Drissi for a door-to-door battle and prevailed to earn the Cool Shirt Cool Move of Race.
# 59 Simon Gregg who runs a full schedule had mechanical problems that put him 3 laps down in 18th.
Same for # 13 Daniel Urrutia, 17th who sticks close to home in Florida. The car is advertised for sale and now sports a C7 body originally from Claudio Burtin who changed out to a Camaro.
# 26 Aaron Pierce and # 33 Joe Molholland were down the charts, 8th and 7th respectively in the SGT class.
# 98 Ernie Francis Jr repeated as season champ shown here pursuing Daytona winner # 20 Chris Dyson from the storied Dyson Racing team, both in Mustangs.
The story would not be complete without a tribute to Kerry Hitt, a Corvette racer from the start back in the 1970s. He switched in 2016 to a TA Caddy body designed and produced by his company Advanced Composite Products. Kerry was 4th in the final standings and earned the senior award at Daytona.
ACP also fielded a Camaro-bodied car for up-and-coming Bobby Kennedy, son of Mark “Squeak” Kennedy, Corvette stalwart for many years. Both cars sport a Caricature of the 45th occupant of the oval office to liven things up for the fans.
Thanks to Chris Clark and Larry VanScoy for exceptional photos.
