In a sparse field at NJMP, Simon Gregg finishes 2nd to winner # 98 Mustang of Ernie Francis Jr who clinches TA championship
Simon Gregg in his # 59, 2nd and Mickey Wright, 6th in the # 6 scored their best results of the season driving Corvettes built and prepared by Jim Derhaag who until recently was an influential shareholder who helped re-start the Trans Am in 2009.
Mechanical problems relegated Vinnie Alegretta # 41 to 13th, one spot ahead of Larry Lapurage # 99, both classified DNF.
Mechanical problems and a 30 second penalty for jumping a re-start dropped Amy Ruman to DNF last place, 17th completing just 15 of 45 scheduled laps.
Ernie Francis Jr, 19 won his 8th race of the season becoming the youngest driver to win a championship replacing a blown engine along the way before qualifying.

It has been heard that 15 races scheduled over 9 months place too much strain on teams shooting for the championship; and that some races should be dropped next year. NJMP could be one of them measured by the low turnout of entrants and fans. Perhaps Homestead and Detroit also.
