# 77 Callaway C7 GT3-R taken out by collision in debut at ADAC-GT Masters at Oschersleben season opener

Better results should follow from the newly designed Callaway C7 GT3-R that appeared at a much heralded press conference last October at the Hockenheim finale.

From Saturday to Sunday the Roller/Valvoline # 77 of Daniel Keilwitz and his new teammate Jules Guonon improved from 14th to 2nd in qualifying but was crashed out in the first lap.

The AutoArena # 69 of Patrick Assenheimer and his new teammate Dominik Schwager finished 11th on Saturday and had their shot at 4th on Sunday spoiled by problems at their pit stop.

The Whelen Engineering # 31 of Boris Said and Loris Hezemans, (filling in for Eric Curran racing at Long Beach) was down on power all weekend from a baffling engine management problem.

The # 13 RWT continues with Remo Lipps and Sven Barth racing a C6 ZO6R GT3 in the class for gentlemen drivers.  On Sunday they moved up from 27th on the grid to finish a respectable 14th.

The addition of the well-backed Whelen Corvette strengthens the venerable Callaway Competition team headed by principals Ernst Woehr & Giovanni Ciccone against an onslaught of seven (7) diverse Supercar marques configured for GT3.

They include 2 Mercedes AMG (V8), 8 Lambo Huracan (mid-ship V10), 3 Bentley Continental (V8 bi-turbo), 11 Audi R8 (mid-ship V10), 3 Porsche 911 (rear Boxer 6), 2 BMW M6 (V8 bi-turbo) and 2 Nissan GT-R (V8) plus the 4 Corvettes (V8).
