Jim McAleese survives and emerges to win his first Trans Am race under full course yellow
Low visibility and a damp track caused the race to start with a series of single file pace laps led by pole sitter Paul Fix. Fog and mist prevailed.
McAleese was the winner when cars clustered on the re-start for what proved to be the third and final caution of the day.
Local Mustang pilot Cliff Ebben had the lead until his tranny broke on lap 16. McAleese managed to pass the “Corvette” Caddy CTS-V of Doug Peterson while behind them several cars tangled and went off exiting turn 6 after the Corvette bridge. The race finished under yellow because there was not enough allotted time to clear all the stranded cars. (Who thinks the Caddy would look better with a blacked out grill?)
Amy Ruman was bumped from behind and recovered to finish 6th extending her points lead over Paul Fix who had slowed for a reason we will try to findout and finished 9th.
Another “survivor” was # 31 Dave Ruehlow, a club racer from Oconomowoc WI who finished 4th.
Our thanks again go to Chris Clark for photos and reporting by the TA media crew under Clark Trexler.
