Seldom seen Chris Hines takes win over Jody O’Donnell and Mike Donohue in battle of the “Big Dogs” at the HAWK
# 1 Chris Hines took a rare day off to win the Group 6 feature race against regular rivals # 46 Jody O’Donnell and # 33 Mike Donohue. Hines is usually kept busy looking after ride & drive customers for Arrowlane Motorsports in Scottsdale, AZ.
Donohue pursued Hines to finish second. O’Donnell, engine problem on first lap was not so lucky.
Trying to confirm reports that fluid overflow from # 37 Clare Schwendeman led to accident on lap 2 that took out 3 cars in Kettle Downs leading into Canada Corner. # 19 Ray Mulacek had made an aggressive start managed to recover to finish 10th.

# 5 Travis Pfrang & # 3 Rick Blaha were among 22 Corvettes in The Group 6 race for Production Sports Cars & Sedans, a fan favorite at the HAWK.
# 61 Brian Garcia won Group 3 race in this Cheetah roadster replica reportedly powered by a 406 cid sprint car motor.
# 71 Jerry Gollnick races this 1964 ex Ed Lowther “Medallion” spec Sting Ray moved to Group 3 with Rochester Fuel Injected 327 cid motor, period heads, stamped rocker arm valve train.
Check the camber on HAWK’s Dave Roberts, # 77 1957 ex Jim Swann, Bill Morrison currently powered by 305 cid “Trans am” motor which could be replaced by a 283 cid FI “Medallion” set up in the future.
