Amy Ruman heads for 2015 TA Championship with win at CoTA

Amy Ruman # 23 won her 7th race of the season at CoTA giving her the edge vs Paul Fix to become the 2015 TA champ.

Fix was again on the pole and posted the fastest lap time before his usually reliable Tony Ave prepared # 4 Corvette broke the props haft and conked out on lap 12.  That outcome sets him 25 points back going into the Daytona finale.

Ruman started 5th and incredibly made up 3 places on the first lap by going 3 wide in turn 1.

Ruman’s ex Doug Harrington C6 TA broke a header and dropped a cylinder but it did not matter.  A series of cautions allowed her to stay on pace racing with side-by-side with Cliff Ebben’s Mustang through several turns.  When he dropped back, Michael Lewis charged in his hot Jaguar XJR to finish 2nd.

Season contender and former champ Doug Peterson was back in his Tony Ave re-bodied ACP CTS-V Corvette and finished 5th.

CoTA is a modern expansive F1 circuit that puts a premium on horsepower, braking and finding the proper line.  It takes a quick learning curve to compete there.
