Trans-Am Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Doug Peterson qualified 2nd alongside pole winner Tomy Drissi, both in Tony Ave prepared Corvettes.   When the green flag dropped, Amy Ruman, starting 4th on her home track, jumped into the lead. Drissi tangled with her on lap 15. Peterson led after the caution and won the race in a hot battle with Cliff Ebben’s Mustang.   Simon Gregg in the first outing of a Trans Am C7 Corvette qualified 4th and finished 3rd for Jim Derhaag’s team.

Corvettes have been a fixture in the SCCA Pro Trans Am after the series moved to big bore sports cars and small bore sedans in 1973.  Headline events the preceding year brought an abrupt end to the “Pony Cars” for which the series was created.   The factory Chevy, Ford, Mopar and AMC teams were put out of business by a lethal dose of recession, hostile politics, pollution controls, expensive insurance, falling oil output and the OPEC embargo.

2014 TUDOR United Sports Car Championship Corvette Season Preview

After months of anticipation the 2014 IMSA TUDOR United Sports Car Championship will take the green flag on their inaugural season in just under a weeks’ time.   For the first time cars, drivers and teams from both the American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am Road Racing Series will compete together, at the same time for one championship.  The excitement for the future could not be any higher.
